New Version of MySpy™ Launched
MySpy™ 3.4 Provides Unique Technology to Protect Account Holders From Fraud
February 19, 2008 – Vancouver – MySpy™, a Virtual Perception Systems Inc. (VPSI) solution designed to protect peoples' finances in a digital world, announced the release of a new version of its software today, designed to help the company impose a significant barrier between criminals and peoples bank accounts, credit cards and other personal information.
"Our ability to provide a single consolidated view of a customer's transactions across accounts and institutions is a unique benefit to users and a necessary aid to peoples' protection," states Darren Stevens, Chief System Architect. "Financial institutions have attempted to provide consolidated account views in the past but have failed. People have an ever-growing need to see what is happening with their finances at a glance, and security measures at institutions are increasingly requiring people to do more and more work to check their accounts. Now with MySpy 3.4, people can be extra-dilligent in monitoring and understanding the use of their financial assets. By exporting information to applications such as Microsoft Excel or an accounting package, people can save time and money. Information from MySpy is always up-to-date and can be used for multiple purposes."
Fraud, identity theft and intellectual property theft crimes have been reported to cost as much 3.3 trillion dollars per year world-wide. Recent reports show that for Canada alone, debit and credit card fraud totalled close to 3 billion dollars in 2007. Agencies such as the BC Crime Prevention Assocation advise people to check their bank accounts much more frequently than they are perhaps used to.
MySpy™ is a software product that users download onto their own PC computers, providing the unique ability to monitor their own accounts in "near-real-time", and without needing to share personal information with third parties. In recent news, identity theft fraud protection companies have come under fire for practices that require people to divulge personal bank account and password information, a practice banned by most financial institutions in Canada under card or account holder agreements. MySpy circumvents this risk by providing people with a tool to provide an unbiased reporting service to themselves, a secure approach commended by the law enforcement community.
The release of the latest version of MySpy™ meets the functional demands of a growing MySpy™ user base, including support for Bank of America, the big 5 Canadian banks and over 200 credit unions. Enhancements include:
Secure Email Support using TLS / SSL encrypted connections for delivery of email and text messages.
Google Gmail Support MySpy™ can now use Google's Gmail servers for transaction receipts. Use your existing Gmail account, or create a new free account just for MySpy™. In addition to being delivered to your cellular phone or other email address, your transaction history can remain in your Sent Items basket at mail.google.com, and be CC'd to any other email addresses you choose.
Direct to Carrier Delivery Option MySpy™ can deliver transaction receipts directly to your cellular carrier, providing a direct route to your phone for your MySpy™ transaction receipts, eliminating the need for a third-party email account.
Reliable Email / SMS Delivery MySpy™ uses a multiple fallback system to ensure your receipts are delivered. MySpy™ attempts connection to multiple fallback servers if primary email servers are not available.
Other enhancements include;
- Export feature - can export to tab-separated values for Microsoft Excel or other programs from individual or consolidated account history
- Copy transactions to the Windows clipboard for pasting into other applications or further analysis
- New warning about license due to expire
- New support for BMO and BMO Mastercard
- New support for Columbia Valley Credit Union
