My-Spy.com Now Runs on Solaris 10
Performance, Security, Reliability Improvements Noted
Virtual Perception Systems Inc. (VPSI) today announced that it has greatly improved the reliability, bandwidth and availability of my-spy.com by deploying servers in a new secure location in Vancouver running the Sun Solaris 10 operating system. The new servers are now connected to redundant fiber connections to Toronto and Seattle , and are backed up by UPS and generator power. The company reports that customers are already seeing the benefits.
“The move to Solaris 10 was part of our plan to provide further secure hosted services as part of the MySpy offering,” said Darren Stevens, Chief Systems Architect. “Our systems have long supported deployment on multiple operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, BSD, Debian and Linux. We’re glad to add Sun to our list of supported server platforms that we can offer to financial institutions as well.”
Sun’s operating systems and server technologies have long been industry leaders for security, scalability and availability. VPSI stated that factors in their decision to move my-spy.com to Solaris included Sun’s sheer scalability, clear path to implementing commercial, government and military-grade security, best-of-breed Java EE support, exciting hardware options and Sun’s recent move to make Solaris 10 a free closed-source operating system.
The company noted that customers are already experiencing improvements in speed and availability of my-spy.com and virtualperception.net, which interact directly with the company’s client-side software and can play a role in MySpy’s digital transaction receipt delivery process. VPSI will continue to support deployments of their technology on multiple platforms including Microsoft Windows as part of their standard development processes.
