MySpy FAQ

  1. Does the Company collect personal information when I acquire MySpy?
    • No. If the user wishes to supply their Email address, the Company will use it to notify them of Company News on its products and services.
  2. Does the Company share any of my information or that of MySpy?
    • No. The company collects no personal information from financial institutions customers. Email addresses are not shared with any outside source. These email addresses are only used to supply information to our customers.
    • Billing information is collected by the appropriate financial institution that processes all credit card transactions.
  3. Does the Company have access to my Banking Information?
    • No. The company has no access to your individual account or financial institution information.
  4. Is my account information viewable by others?
    • No. All information is encrypted using 1024 bit encryption and stored on your local machine. (Financial Institutions currently use 128-bit encryption).
  5. When I change my Account information, is this viewable?
    • Whenever you change your account information, you are required to fill in your personal information again. We do not automatically populate your account screens due to security reasons. Only you and your institution know your personal access codes.
  6. How secure is MySpy?
    • MySpy follows all industry standards for securing transactions and communications over the Internet or on-line.
  7. How Secure is my communication to the financial institution?
    • All information is exchanged with your financial institution using Industry Standard SSL connections when communication between your systems running MySpy and the financial institution.
  8. Can MySpy monitor my Debit card activity?
    • Yes. As soon as the transaction appears on your account and MySpy sees it, you will be notified.
  9. What type of information is supplied on a debit or credit card transaction?
    • Depending on the institution, you will be supplied with the following:
    • Amount of the Transaction.
    • Date and Time of transaction
    • Location of the transaction
    • Name of Company where transaction took place.
    • Balance remaining in your account.
  10. Can I run more than one Copy of MySpy at a time?
    • No. Only one copy may run on a single machine.
  11. Can I monitor more that one account?
    • All accounts within a single institution that are accessible over the Internet can be monitored by you. It is up to you to decide.
  12. Can I monitor more than a single financial institution?
    • Yes. You can select any of the institutions that are provided within the Account set-up program
  13. Can I monitor another person’s account?
    • If you have access to the pother person’s account information including the appropriate access codes, then you can monitor that person’s account. EG: Your children’s accounts can be monitored.
  14. How much does My Spy cost?
    • MySpy costs a few pennies a day to monitor a single financial institution. Please check with the WEB site for the latest purchasing and product information.
  15. Is MySpy available from my institution?
    • It may be. Ask at your institution. If it is not, you may purchase it directly from our WEB site over secure communication facilities.
  16. Do I need my financial Institutions permission to use MySpy?
    • No. MySpy is a separated piece of software that allows you to monitor your financial transactions without using any financial institution supplied software.
  17. Can I send my notifications to both my Cell phone and Email?
    • Currently you can only send to one or the other. Future versions will allow multiple notification paths.
  18. What cell networks does MySpy work with?
    • Currently for text messaging, MySpy will work with Telus, Fido, Bell and Rogers (we do not yet directly support SaskTel, NorthernTel, Virgin Mobile, MTS or Telebec Mobilité, however, email-to-phone should work if available from these carriers), T-Mobile, and Cingular in the US. If the Cell provider offers Email, then MySpy will work with any Cell phone provider who offers this type of service.
  19. Will MySpy work with a Blackberry device?
    • Yes.
  20. Does my computer need to be on in order to receive notifications?
    • Yes. Running the personal version of MySpy requires your computer to be logged on and connected to the Internet. It does not matter whether this connection is high speed or not. Virtual Perception recommends that you use Ctrl-Alt-Delete and then choose Lock Computer to secure your machine while you are away, or utilize an automatic password-protected screen-saver.
    • MySpy Family and MySpy Professional do not require the machine to be logged on to the Internet.
    • MySpy Mobile is a hosted solution that does not require a computer at all.
  21. Can I change how I receive my notification of messages?
    • Yes. MySpy allows you to change the Cell number or Email address at anytime.
  22. Can I select when I receive my messages?
    • Yes. You can schedule a period of the time of day when you want to be notified. MySpy can be set for 24 hours a day or between a particular group of hours.
  23. Can I scheduled my messages for real time or delayed time?
    • Yes. You can schedule the length of time you wish to check on your accounts to see if any transactions have happened.
